A variety of road, bridge and soils/materials design and testing standards are still applied in the region. This has resulted in inconsistency of the designed works and has cast doubts on the appropriateness of some of the standards being applied.
Objective
The objective of Materials and Design Standards Committee is to:
- promote regional best practice and consistency in road and bridge design and soils/materials testing.
Strategies
The strategies adopted to achieve this objective are to:
- identify needs for, develop and promote the use of harmonised design standards, guides, manuals and codes of practice and;
- arrange for the publication, dissemination and training in the use of the harmonised design standards, guides, manuals and codes of practice.
Outcomes
The expected outcome of the strategies is:
- harmonised, more consistent application of road, bridge and soils/materials design and testing standards with greater uniformity in the outputs of these processes.
