The project aims at identifying performance requirements of the road sector within the SADC region in order to help direct resources to the areas of greatest need, those that closely relate to fulfilling the ASANRA goals and objectives, improving productivity and providing quality products and services. The project was being implemented using Implementation Team (IT) project delivery approach which entails use of internal staff resources in Member States. As one way of building capacity in research in the regional universities, ASANRA entered into partnership with University of Dar es Salaam to carry out the research activities. A student pursuing a Masters Degree was identified to do the research. The research was done in the 2021/2022 academic year.
ASANRA then organized a two-day orientation meeting for Human Resource (HR) Officials from ASANRA member states to expose the to the Training Needs Assessment tool that was developed for identifying and prioritizing the training needs. HR Officials from Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe attended the meeting from 20th – 21st November, 2023 at South Africa National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) offices in Pretoria, South Africa.
