ASANRA Secretariat staff attended the 11th International Conference on Infrastructure Development in Africa (DII-Conference), which was held from 10th –12th August 2026 at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre, Malawi. The conference brought together participants from across Africa and beyond, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and the exchange of experiences on infrastructure development.
ASANRA’s participation in the conference was considered important in preparation for the 10th Africa Technology Transfer Conference, which will be hosted by ASANRA, the Roads Authority of Malawi, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) in May 2027 in Malawi.
The participation provided ASANRA Secretariat staff with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience on the planning, coordination and hosting of international conferences. It also provided an opportunity to observe conference organisation and management practices that could be applied in preparation for the forthcoming Africa Technology Transfer Conference.
In addition, the ASANRA Secretariat used the opportunity to engage with MUBAS, which hosts the Technology Transfer Centre and is a member of the ASANRA Regional Technology Transfer Committee. The engagement provided an opportunity for the two institutions to discuss preparations, coordination and areas of collaboration in relation to the hosting of the 10th Africa Technology Transfer Conference in 2027.
