ASANRA regularly organises the African Transportation Technology Transfer Conference, which brings together professionals and stakeholders from across the transport sector to share experiences, exchange ideas and discuss new technologies and best practices. The conference provides a valuable opportunity for participants to learn from one another and explore practical ways of improving the provision, maintenance and management of transport infrastructure across Africa.
Since the Conference was introduced, ASANRA has successfully organised nine (9) conferences in different countries across the SADC region. These have been hosted in Tanzania on two occasions, as well as in South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and, most recently, Mozambique.
The 10th African Transportation Technology Transfer Conference will be hosted by Malawi at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe in May 2027.
The upcoming conference is expected to attract approximately 300 delegates from across Africa and beyond, including transport professionals, government representatives, national road agencies, development partners, researchers, private-sector representatives and other key stakeholders. It will provide an opportunity for participants to share practical experiences, showcase new ideas and technologies, and discuss innovative and sustainable solutions to some of the challenges facing the transport sector in Africa.
